January 2026. A Croatian client currently engaged in aluminum filters manufacturing sought to reduce production costs and design more proprietary filter cartridge products.
They decided to purchase a steel mesh machine to produce the raw material—expanded mesh—for their filters in-house. The client approached DAPU, a professional expanded mesh machine manufacturer. We promptly confirmed the finished product specifications required by the client:
Common customer specifications are as follows:
Wire mesh width: 1m
Finished mesh length requirement: 2.5m
Long wire distance (LWD): 16mm
Short wire distance (SWD): 6mm
Strand width: 3mm
Mesh thickness: 0.5mm
Feed method: 1-ton steel coil
Based on the customer's standard specifications and the formula for calculating finished product length:
Length calculation formula: Raw material length / Mesh width / 2 × SWD = Finished steel mesh length
(2500 / 3 / 2 × 6 = 2500 mm)
Calculations indicate that the required finished product will have a final mesh length of 2.5m, necessitating a total of 834 cuts. Therefore, based on the customer's parameter requirements, we recommended our steel mesh machine DP25-16, along with our popular electric decoiler with a maximum load capacity of 5 tons.
The machine operates at 260 strokes per minute, meaning it takes approximately 3 minutes to produce one finished piece. If the machine runs for 8 hours a day, the daily output is around 160 pieces.
Ultimately, the customer accepted our proposal and selected one DP25-16 expanded metal mesh machine and one electric decoiler.
Additionally, the customer has provided us with the specification data for the finished expanded aluminum mesh they will be producing:
SWD*LWD*Thickness*Strand Width*Mesh Width*Mesh Length
3X06X0.8X1X1000X3000
3X10X1X1.5X1000X2700
5X10X1X1.5X1000X2000
5X10X1X1.5X1000X3500
6X16X0.5X3X1000X2500
6X16X0.6X3X1000X2000
6X16X0.8X1X1000X6200
6X16X1X1.5X1000X4000
Based on the customer's specifications above, for mesh sizes with identical LWD*SWD dimensions, only the upper cutters need to be replaced. Therefore, the customer only needs to purchase four additional sets of upper cutters in addition to the existing DP25-16 expanded metal mesh machine.
Moreover, the customer has now sent us sample of the mesh openings they require. Our engineers will use calipers to accurately measure the size of the mesh openings in their samples. Then, working with our design team, we will redesign the production cutters based on the customer's mesh opening size, test the finished products, and send them to the customer for inspection. Below are the samples our customer has sent us:
